Honesty Coffee Shop
An unmanned roadside store where travelers pay on the honor system — a window into Ivatan integrity.
About Honesty Coffee Shop
The Honesty Coffee Shop is a tiny, family-owned wooden hut in Ivana where there is no cashier or attendant. Visitors choose snacks, brewed Ivatan coffee, or souvenirs, then drop payment into a wooden box. Featured by international media as a symbol of Ivatan honesty, it has run continuously since 1995. The hut sits across from San Jose de Ivana Church and the old port.
